![]() NWN2 has one incredibly prolific modder, Kaedrin, who has added almost every DnD 3.5 class/race/feat/spell into the game. It's really awkward to use due to limitations of the engine, but it's there and fun. NWN1 has a community expansion pack that adds a bunch of new mechanics/classes/races. This game is based on Dungeons & Dragons 3.5e.īoth are good, and both have excellent module support. Even now it can cause issues on modern gaming computers. NWN 2 is unfortunately very poorly optimized with a jank-ass camera. ![]() The second expansion feels a lot like Icewind Dale in that you build a party and explore some lush jungles rooting out nefarious serpentfolk. ![]() The first expansion is a continuation of the base campaign, though the base campaign can easily be skipped. It suffers in the same was as the original with a shitty base campaign (uselessly generic and very easy), but it's two expansions are excellent. This game is based on Dungeons & Dragons 3e. The base story is pretty shit (it's a series of generic fetch quests), but the expansion stories are wonderful. Shadowlords, Dreamcatcher and Demon campaignsĪlso, having friends to play with makes this game even better. If you do decide to buy the game, then do yourself a favor and download these modules: Honestly, the only thing that holds this game back are the outdated graphics. Generally, this game is for people who love DnD universe and want never-ending adventures in it, as thanks to the great community of this game there are countless high quality modules. Persistent worlds are pseudo-MMO servers (max 50 people) with preset campaigns where players log in and roleplay or PVP (you can't access PW in GoG's NVN: diamond edition, only in Steam NWN: Enhanced Edition at the time of this post). Also someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the enhanced edition has a module editor which you can use to create your own modules with minimal coding. You can find some truly awesome modules which put the base game's story (and the expansion's) in shame. Player-made modules are by far the best feature of this game, they are community-made campaigns. However, the game's main strength lies in player-made modules and persistent worlds. You only control 1 character (plus a bodyguard that follows you around, though you can't directly control him), so if you want a classic cRPG party this game is probably not a good choice on that matter.īase game's plot is meh. I can only speak about Neverwinter Nights 1, which is great.
